The launch of Reggaecise® – the ‘Original Jamaican Caribbean Workout’ – to Jamaica will take place on Friday, April 5, 2019 and Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at KGN 10 Sports Bar & Grill, 1A Hillview Avenue, Kingston 10.
Tickets are J$500 at the door.
Reggaecise® is a high-impact aerobic workout experience, which combines Reggae music, exercise and the carefree attitude of the Caribbean. It promises to have anyone who participates in it moving, grooving, sweating and having fun, while burning calories and reducing stress.
Reggaecise® will be presented by Jamaica’s own David Smith, who created Reggaecise® in 1992; and being dissatisfied with the lack of variation and culture in music and dance at the time, wanted to expose unique aspects of Jamaican and Caribbean performing arts to his new home.
Now living in Canada, David works as a fitness instructor at one of Canada’s largest health clubs, teaching Reggaecise® to members, who fill his classes to participate in the group dance fitness specialty class.
In the 70’s David Smith created an unique style of dance by blending martial arts with dance choreography, and co-founded the renown Jamaican dance troupe, L.T.D., which Jamaicans.com, in an article chronicling Jamaica street dance history, credited with being one of the innovative dance troupes responsible for defining Jamaican dancehall culture.
The two Reggaecise® events will be followed by Reggaecise® Instructor Training in July. Just as the innovative styling of David Smith and his dance troupe, L.T.D., shaped Jamaican dance culture, we are calling on Jamaica’s fitness and dance enthusiasts to make Reggaecise® the anthem of fitness in Jamaica, and showcase to a wider audience an unique Jamaican Caribbean workout experience.
We look forward to seeing you at KGN 10 Sports Bar & Grill in Jamaica in April!
